Semester End Reflection

This semester was exceptional. I had a great time making new friends and learning new things. I got to know my body even more. I got to know when my body couldn't take no more of our exhilarating workouts and how I can run for along time without vomiting or breathing very heavily. Get Fit has opened my eye to make better choices, for example, eating right and exercising more but most importantly always being positive and happy. As Dalai Lama once said, "The purpose of our lives is to be happy". Not only improving in my fitness, I have improved on being a better person. I know I usually can run an 8.5 on the beep test but last time I was so close to run a 9 on the beep test. I've learned it takes patience and time to achieve anything. That is why I've started to workout out of school as an extracurricular activity because why drain your youth away by watching TV all day and eat junk food? Go outside and be adventurous and learn new things and learn how to love it not waste it. I've come to notice if you have a healthy mind and soul you can do wonders. You have to have your mind set and ready to achieve. I love Get Fit because it inpires me and teaches me new things every class and I love to learn new things but sometimes I don't show it. As this semester was coming along I have become more cofident in my skin and just in general. If I have an opinion I would love to share with the class and I like to participant by volunteering to demestrate an activity or to volunteer to go first for a warm-up game. I love how we have field trips in this class because I get to do something I've never done in my life, for example, taekwondo, fencing and hot yoga. I would probably never try those activities if it weren't for those field trip and guess what I surprising liked them. I find this class as an opportunity and an advantage. It's just wonderful. Having this class to be all girls is fantastic because sometimes you can be shy to do some activities in front of some guys and in this class you feel more confident and courageous. I would say this class is full of all my sisters, we go through the same thing and can understand one another. So I love it. Critically, I've learnt never to give up and always finish something right to the end rather it being a workout or long term goal. Don't underestimate anything.

I plan to keep up with the progress I've made, by not dieting but making wise decisions about what I eat and my cousin and I are going to team up and start going for runs around sulli's pond once it gets lighter and the days get warmer. Once this semester is over it's going to be hard for me to learn new workouts and strategies of living a healthy life. And it will suck once this is over because won't get to spend an hour and 30 minutes with you guys everyday. I'm going to miss our family. :( I think the Nike Training app was the best thing I've ever seen because now I have this app on my iPod so I can workout at home too. As a matter of fact, just today I used it and I feel amazing but, my legs are sore and I cannot sit down without saying, "Oh god, Oh god". My friends were a great big motivation for me watching them and them cheering me on really warms my heart. Also having a prodigious teacher like you is a great motivation. I can always be motivated on my own time by listening to my music while working out and having my cousin right beside me to support and motivate me. And I can agree, thank-you for making this such an amazing  semester for us to experience!

I would give myself 86%.

Reflection. (report card)

Get fit is nothing like I'v expected (in a good way). Get Fit is witty, convivial and diverting. I got to meet new people. As well as experience new things, for example, fencing and Taekwondo. Get Fit has impacted my life a lot because I used to be so lazy and basically be a couch potato. Now having PE everyday for a semester, I chose to make changes in my life by being more active and eating healthy. I haven't had fast food in awhile and I mean a month. I am inspired to live a healthy life by looking at my old pictures and being motivated. I am motived by my music, peers, Mrs. Phillips, and just the positive vibes around me. On fitness days,  I try to put 100% of effort in the activities were doing  and even if it isn't the most nicest day of the week I still put my best efforts and behaviour forward because I am aware how important it is to be healthy and I want to live a better life. Therefore, I am more serious about fitness and what I am capable of. I hope that I can even expand my fitness, for instance, in the beep test my level is 8.5. At the end of the semester, we do the beep test for the very last time and I stop at level 9 or even more. It would probably be the biggest accomplishment I would have involving my fitness. As a person I know that there are always room for more improvement because you may think you concurred something but you can always go back and say, "How can I concur it better". There is never one way to do something, there are many ways to do something. You just have to think deeper and say, "How can I make this better". So I believe I have the ability to do everything better. I just need to be focused and determined as well as motived. Most importantly make goals and achieve them. I am ready to put my best foot forward and make the best of this class and work hard as well as learn from my teacher and peers. Hence, I would give myself 85% because I am positive, I participate in class and I love to learn new things from others as well as experience new things. I feel more comfortable in this class and I am not afraid to come out of my comfort zone. I found this class very essential and important towards a healthy lifestyle.

Fencing

I had a great time learning how to fence. The whole sport is about strategizing and how one joust can ending in less than a minute. You need to learn how to be quick on your feet by doing drills and practicing. Which includes lunging and different types of patterns to go against your opponent. When we got to try on the fencing gear, I found it funny because we had to wear the boobie protector and I felt embarrassed but then I started to embrace it. I found it neat how the foil contained a small wire that could detect if you hit your opponent for a point. Overall, I had fantastic experience, I hope to do this again.

Fitness day

Last Friday, we had fitness and we did the modified beep test. Boy, that was a challenge! I thought I could did well but I could of done better. First of all, it wasn't the best day to wear those sweats because they we're so loose that when I was running they kept on falling down my waist. Second I ate a cheeseburger, forgetting that I had fitness that day. So when I was running all I felt was that cheeseburger coming up my throat and the after taste of it while I was running. On top of that, it was Halloween the day before, leaving me with a sugar rush and a stomach ache after the beep test. What I was proud of myself was that I never attempted to quit. Sure I was thirsty and exhausted but I never gave up. When we were at level 14 things got too hectic. I tried my best to keep going but the most that I sat out for was 4 beeps but I kept going by trying to only miss 2 beeps. I thought of a pattern towards the end by resting for a maximum of 2 beeps then sprinting across to the other side. I was so exhausted at the end, but it felt rewarding. I had a love hate relationship with this activity, but I got through it. I could barely breathe for the first bit after I completed the 20 levels but I drank some water to feel better. Before we were allowed to change Nadia, Paige and I started to stretch so we could prevent our bodies from getting sore the next day. I would love to do this activity again for fitness because its challenging, you can't back down, it gets your adrenaline pumped, and it really tests your ability to keep going.

Inspiration

My inspiration is music and my teacher. Knowing that my get fit teacher has been a PE teacher for 13 years really makes has an impact on me and I consider Ms. Phillips as a role model. My friends also inspire me to have fun and be a kid. Without them PE wouldn't be as fun as it is.

This is my favourite song at the moment and it really hypes me up for anything. It is my motivtor bacause i know all the lyrics and I love the beat. This song reminds me of a throwback because this song has a different vibe.

Update on progress and dance field trip

I think my progress in class is good because I participate in class and get involved in the activities we do together. I liked how we did the beep test because It helped me grasp where my fitness level is for running and all that fun stuff. ;) I really take our fitness days seriously because instead of wining an not doing it, I take full advantage and learn from our fitness days. So far I love all the activities we did for our fitness day because each activity is focused on a certain part of your body or more. So I'm enjoying everything we're doing in class an taking mental notes in what I can improve from what we are doing in class or as a group.

I loved our dance field trip I learned new dance technics and really got to stretch out my whole body. It was painful but worth it because I felt so much better after a couple of days. I liked our dance teacher. She was nice, sweet and a cool dance teacher. I really felt comfortable in class because this year I'm trying new things out of my comfort zone because I want to experience new things. I had a great time and I hope to do something like this again.

Why I Chose Get Fit

I  chose Get Fit because at the grade 10 assembly back when we were in grade 9, we had an assembly on what courses we would like to take and they told us that for P.E we had choices. We had a choice either to take Get fit or P.E leadership. Therefore, I loved the idea of an all girls P.E, plus I love the teacher that is teaching the class. Also I love the fact that you get to go to field trips and you get to know your body better and what it's capable of.  This year I would like to increase my fitness level, to do that I will try my best in every class and try to learn new ways to be healthy and fit. As well as I will try my best to be active out of school, for example, going for runs in the evening with my cousin. I will also try my best to eat healthy and make better decisions which I'm starting to have a habit of. Overall, I'm looking for a great year full of sweat and tears. :)
